Every great structure begins with a solid foundation. Our award-winning schools are no different. The Hillsborough Schools Foundation (HSF) helps to ensure your child has access to a world-class education in an inspiring and nurturing environment.
Facing a severe crisis in school funding in the late 1970’s, the town of Hillsborough did what it does so well – it rallied families together to find a way to preserve the excellence of its public schools. Established in 1980, HSF was one of the first non-profit public school foundations in the country and was a leader in the movement to secure private financing for public schools. With the support of our generous community, HSF quickly became an integral part of our school district’s funding.
Last year, we raised over $3.3 million dollars, providing critical funding for the educational excellence we expect in Hillsborough. Together, we have pioneered a new approach to public education by making our children and their futures a key priority in our community.

With contributions over the years totaling more than $29 million, the results of this community's generosity are reflected in every area of our school curriculum. Eighty-one percent of our parents and close to 500 families without children in our schools continue to contribute generously to HSF's Annual Giving Campaign.
While our community is donating dollars for our schools, we are also participating in HSF Events, which raise substantial revenue through exciting community activities and events. Each fall, HSF Events sponsors the Hillsborough Classic Tennis Tournament and Luncheon, followed in the winter by the Dinner Dance and Auction. The tradition will continue with the 53rd Annual Concours d'Elegance, on the first Sunday in May, and our school year will end with Family Fun Day, a new event which combines the Family Fun Run and Carnival for one great community building affair. Our school year is packed with wonderful events and fundraising, and HSF appreciates the enormous commitment of our families to support excellence in our Hillsborough schools.
Working together, we raise millions of dollars for our schools, donating to our Annual Giving Campaign, participating in our HSF Events, generating funds through eScrip, and cooperating as a community to uphold excellence in our schools. These funds support all areas of the school curriculum, particularly our extraordinary teachers and specialists.
