Education foundations nationwide were created in the late 1970's as public school budgets across the country were significantly reduced. To offset the serious financial crisis in our schools, and to bridge the financial gap between what was needed for our students and state and federal funding, the Hillsborough Schools Foundation (HSF) was formed in 1980 as one of the first education foundations in California and the United States. Over the past 27 years, our community has responded to the district's needs with tremendous support, recognizing that in today's world, private funding is crucial for public education.
With contributions over the years totaling more than $26 million, the results of this community's generosity are reflected in every area of our school curriculum. Eighty-five percent of our parents and close to 500 families without children in our schools continue to contribute generously to HSF's Annual Giving Campaign.
While our community is donating dollars for our schools, we are also supporting HSF Events, which raise substantial revenue through exciting community activities and events. Each fall, HSF Events sponsors the Hillsborough Classic Tennis Tournament and Luncheon, followed in the winter by the Dinner Dance and Auction. This spring welcomes the 52nd annual Concours d'Elegance Car Show and Carnival, followed in June by the 15th annual Family Fun Run. Our school year is packed with wonderful events and fundraising, and HSF appreciates the enormous commitment of our families to support excellence in our Hillsborough schools.
Please help us continue supporting a world class education for our students by attending our HSF events and once again making a generous contribution to YOUR Hillsborough Schools Foundation.
