Annual Giving Campaign - DONATE!

Thank you for your support! We would like to thank the 736 families, over 81% of all Hillsborough schools families, who contributed to the annual campaign last year. By raising nearly $3.4 million, Hillsborough Schools Foundation ranks among the largest public education foundations in California. Now we need to keep working together to ensure our children have a strong foundation for the future. Help us reach our goal of 100% family participation by contributing at the "student sponsor" level or higher. Every dollar makes a difference - so donate today!

Pledge Day was November 4, 2008. Thanks to 40% of Hillsborough parents who pledged on Pledge Day, HSF raised over $1 million for our schools for 2008-2009! What a testimony to the commitment of our parents. We appreciate your generosity during these challenging economic times!

Without your continued support to HSF, our children would NOT have:

  • Smaller class sizes
  • Reading Specialist
  • Math and Science Enrichment Teacher
  • Writing Specialist at South and West
  • Counselors at all schools
  • Art Specialist at North
  • Foreign Language program
  • Drama Specialist (K-8)
  • Cutting edge Technology
  • Music, P.E. and Librarians

Why do we need the Hillsborough Schools Foundation? In Hillsborough, we recognize the large gap between government funding and the amount needed to provide our children with the education we believe they deserve.

Data based on NEA research for the year 2006-2007

Our state funding is currently based on our local property taxes. Surprisingly, just 17% of your property tax money goes to education in our school district, and combined represents only 58.2% of the HCSD budget.

District Pie

The money our district receives from taxes isn't enough to maintain all the programs we have come to expect and to keep our class sizes down.

HSF hopes to reach our goal of 100% parent participation and raise $3.2 million from the Annual Giving Campaign this year. This will help keep our class sizes small and our amazing programs in place.

If you missed Pledge Day, you can still participate by mailing your pledge envelope to the HSF Office, emailing your commitment to Julie Switky, HSF Executive Director at julie@hsf.org, or paying online at www.hsf.org.

Here's to a great year for the Hillsborough Schools and the Hillsborough Schools Foundation!

"As a parent and teacher, I am both a donor and a beneficiary of the Hillsborough Schools Foundation. Having previously worked in a district where the classes had as many as 35 students, 1 can see that the smaller class sizes made passible by HSF have had an enormous impact on student learning. Having only 20 students in class allows me more time to help struggling students, challenge gifted individuals and communicate with families. "
