Board of Directors
President/Co-President:
Provides leadership to the Hillsborough Schools Foundation (HSF), leads
the Board of Directors, provides inspiration, guidance and direction to
Annual Giving team, Events team, Scholars’ Circle, Underwriting and the
professional staff. She or he attends Associated Parent Group meetings,
Hillsborough Schools Board of Trustees meetings, Superintendent
Coffees, District roundtable meetings, and monthly meetings with the

Annual Giving Chair & Committee:
The annual giving chair oversees four campaigns: Parent, Community,
Alumni and Scholars’ Circle. Responsibilities include drafting letters
for the parent and community campaigns and working on the development
of the annual report. The Chair also plans and implements Annual Giving
Campaign meetings as well as attends individual Parent Campaign,
Community Campaign and Scholar Circle meetings. The annual giving chair
also works closely with the President of HSF and the HSF staff.

Communications Chair & Committee:
Ensures the HSF message is clear, consistent, compelling and well
understood by the Hillsborough Community. The Chair coordinates all HSF
communications, by collecting, editing, designing and disseminating
pertinent information through the annual report, newsletters, eBlasts

Events Chair:
Provides leadership to the Events Team and oversees all matters in
respect to Event Fundraisers: Hillsborough Tennis Classic, Dinner
Dance, and Family Fun Day as well as eScrip, Corporate Partners, and
Auction. Holds monthly event team meetings and attends monthly Board of
Directors, Operations/Allocation and personnel meetings. Also attends
individual event meetings as needed and works closely with the HSF

Secretary, Board of Directors: To
record, maintain and preserve the minutes from all the Board of
Directors and Operations meetings. Review, maintain, and update as

Chief Financial Officer: Provide
finance, accounting and budget oversight in direct communication with
the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Finance Committee, Allocations
and Investment Committee. Reviews financial statements prepared by
staff and outside accountants. Manages short-term cash (non-endowment).

Volunteers Chair:
Strategic responsibility for communications to all four school
communities regarding HSF programs and events. Oversees the four HSF
liaisons (one for each school in the District), whom provide support to
Annual Giving Campaign and Events teams through communications and
promotion at individual schools. Coordinates volunteer development and
continuing education events to enhance the volunteer experience and

Endowment Chair & Committee:
Responsibilities of Committee are to oversee existing endowment and
explore the opportunities and challenges inherent in growing the

Governance Committee Chair:
Oversight and amendment of HSF’s governance process. Review of
Committee Charters and suggested annual change to operational charters.

New Ventures Chair & Committee:
Oversees and develops new funding programs that will financially
contribute substantial new revenue to HSF over a sustainable period of
time. Leads a committee of 4-5 people to review ideas and to suggest

Nominating Chair & Committee:
Oversee all matters related to the nominating process including
orientation, preparation, development of potential leaders, and
conducting the deliberation and selection process. The Nominating
Committee works with the Volunteer Committee to further the positive
experience of volunteering with HSF and supporting professional

Strategic Planning Chair & Committee: Monitors HSF progress against the established five year Strategic Plan. Chairs the Strategic Planning Committee in amending and updating the plan. Lead the creation of an Annual Roadmap for the year that represents all former and current leader’s goals and intersects directly with the five year Strategic Plan. She or he interviews all HSF leaders three times per year to discuss progress on the Annual Plan, troubleshoot issues, and jointly prepare solutions. Corporate Partners & Committees: Oversees and coordinates the Underwriting, Sponsorships, and
committees. We try to bring in as much money as possible to underwrite
events and calendar ad sales, while offering attractive benefits to our

- Ensuring that the Parent Group Board is updated on upcoming HSF fundraising activities, and also provide feedback from the Parent Group back to HSF. Ensure that each class has selected one HSF Room parent and forward the job description to them.
- Forwarding monthly communications from the Volunteer Chair to HSF Room Parents for further distribution to class parents on HSF Events, New Ventures and the Annual Giving Campaign.
- Encouraging participation and support of the events through appropriate actions (putting class tables together for events, providing information at “What to Expect Night”, following up on class auction item donations, etc.).
- Making a special effort with new families, so they feel welcome to attend events and understand the importance of HSF.
HSF Room Parent (one per class at each school): HSF Room Parents support the HSF School Liaison by disseminating information to their respective class parents in a timely manner. You know your class; you are in the best position to make sure they have the information they need to get involved and attend events.Communications can be achieved by email, telephone and personal contact.
- Be a booster for events by ensuring parents feel comfortable and welcome to attend.
- Send monthly information supporting promotion of events and encouraging participation.
- Help answer questions about HSF.
- Make a special effort with new families.
